Bonnie Waugh

My work was once described as "Human Allegory." I also see it more as narrative or anecdotal. My goal is usually not to give all the answers but to leave the work enigmatic and equivocal. I wish the viewer to form their own opinions and investigate the curiosity.

Most of my imagery stems from my fascination with ceremony, ritual and the mysteries of dreams and their lucid nature. I love the human form and all of its beauty, but beyond the image there lies the potential for multiple layers of emotional depth. That is what captivates me.

Art has the ability to transform and take us beyond ourselves to a different center. One of my favorite quotes is from Joseph Campbell, "The goal of life is rapture - Art is the way we experience it."
